Methods of Giving
Subject to confirmation by your individual tax advisor,
you may wish to consider the following:
Cash Gifts - A check made out to the North Shore Library Foundation may be given or you may wish to pledge a specified amount and pay it quarterly or semi-annually over a year. Pledges of $1,000 or more may be made for up to three years.
Securities / Stocks and Bonds
Because the Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, a gift of appreciated securities can provide a deduction at the current market value with no capital gains taxes incurred.
Wills and Trusts
Making the North Shore Library Foundation a beneficiary in your will or creating a trust is an effective way to establish a legacy in your name or the name of your family, or an individual you wish to honor or memorialize.
The face value of an insurance policy can be many more times its actual cost, thus increasing your giving possibilities. The full cash value of the policy may be deducted, avoiding the capital gains tax incurred if the owner cashed the policy.
IRA's - You may give all or part of your IRA and avoid the tax consequences.
If you have matching employer funds our tax ID # is 39-1993168.
